The Nature Kids program has been a hit the past four years and we are expanding the program into a homeschool support program in 2023 and into a school in 2024!
We are using modern research to create a healthy and deeply fulfilling educational experience for Suffolk’s future leaders.
WHAT IS A DAY LIKE FOR LEARNERS AT ORGANIC ROOTS?
Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9am-1pm, learners and guides enjoy freedom within a structured daily schedule.
9am Inspiring opening discussion and intention for the day
9:15am Core skills. (Math/Language/Reading/Writers Workshop) Learners have flexibility to move around and learn wherever and however they choose with the support of fellow learners and their guide. Learners will either work on the curriculum that their parents send in with them, or on skill level core skills provided by guides.
9:45am Nature Walk/yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork
10:45am Project Time focusing on current project (entrepreneurship, foreign language-Hebrew, etc.)
11:30pm Lunch
12:00pm Team clean up
12:30pm Closing Circle practicing authentic communication
1pm Dismissal

She grew up camping along the Eastern Seaboard with her family, playing on her grandparents farm, leading camps at church and the YMCA, and earning a 2nd degree green b

She grew up camping along the Eastern Seaboard with her family, playing on her grandparents farm, leading camps at church and the YMCA, and earning a 2nd degree green belt in Karate. She holds an NK-5 Virginia Teaching License; Master's Degree in Education; and Gifted Endorsement. Brandy is a certified children's yoga teacher.
Upon completing five years of service in the Israeli Navy Seals Unit, Kipi went on to study Wilderness Therapy. He worked with young offenders in Israel using sea and wilderness therapy as a treatment for a variety of issues, including substance abuse/addictions, depression, anxiety, ADD, ADHD, and motivation issues. His love and skill

Tuition payment options:
Option 1.) Pay in Full for annual tuition September-May $6,120
Option 2.) Pay deposit of $1,360 and then 7 monthly payments of $680)
We are offering need-based scholarships on a first come-first serve basis. To be considered for a scholarship:
1. Submit the your application for admissions and application fee. We will not be able to process any scholarship applications until you have been accepted into the program.
2. Submit your financial assistance application
3. Families who qualify will be offered scholarships. The minimum scholarship for participants who qualify is $500 and the maximum is $3,000

We will explore permaculture principles of care for people, care for the earth, and fair share.
Some of Themes we explore...
Forest Foragers: Berries & More! Under the guidance of our educators, harvest seasonal berries, vegetables from the garden and edible forest plants. Then prepare desserts and local foods for a natural feast.
Farm & Forest: explore homestead practices and meet animal friends. Learn how to care for creatures of the Farm and Forest. Tend to gardens and track the wildlife through the woodland.
Survival: Forts & Friends Learn awesome wilderness survival skills. Build a fort with your team. Learn fun wilderness skills of navigation, shelter, water and outdoor cooking.
Under Construction: Build, dig, create, and construct. Explore different ways to be an engineer through interactions with the great outdoors. Use elements of nature to create structures, build forts, and use tools.
Tools of Discovery: Encounter insects, trails, fungi, and more using tools for science learning magnifying glasses, binoculars, maps, shovels, and books. Hone investigation skilled and get to know the ecology, history, and hidden secrecy so of the woodlands.
Forest Ninja: Explore the forest with your ninja teachers and team. Play fun stealth games and learn martial arts movement from our local animals. Stretch like the otter, leap like the deer, and run like the coyote!
Art of Nature: Nature breeds inspiration. Learn how to express yourself through painting, drawing, collage, dance, music, and more, all by using natural materials in the woodlands around us.
